 Aztec Anglers is the premier guide service and outfitter for Fly Fishing the San Juan River in Navajo Dam,  New Mexico.  Aztec Anglers is owned by Paul Freeman with Roughriderguide.net and Michael Mercurio from Flyfishpimp.com.  Paul and Merc are both experienced San Juan Fly Fishermen.  Paul is a former guide on the San Juan guiding clients for 4 years on the river and has fished the Juan for over 20 years.  Merc cut his teeth fly fishing on the Juan and has fished the San Juan over the last 8 years as his home river.  Aztec Anglers works with experienced guides who are excellent working with the newest of fly fishers to advising the advanced fisherman with comfort.

If you've never fly fished the West... we offer the perfect trip for you.  The San Juan is western tailwater fly fishing at its best. This river is a desert version of a fly fishing paradox: Big trout on tiny flies.  The river fishes excellent year round, through spring run off, heat of summer, fall dry fly fishing for Baetis and epic winter Midge hatches.  This river never has an off season and brings us weather that is bearable all year long.   Float or wade, you will be hooking fish in no time.

Famous stretches such as " 3 Mile Island, Lunker Alley and Baetis Bend"  await your presentations.  The San Juan has over 5000 trout per mile and you will have a blast catching these experienced fish that average 17".
