San Juan River Weather

When packing for your San Juan fly fishing trip, remember that weather conditions can quickly change. Since the river is a year around fishery, clothing should be appropriate for the season… you should layer in the winter.   Also remember that the penetrating rays of the bright New Mexico sun can burn at anytime of the year in any kind of weather; therefore, we recommend sunscreen (SPF 30+), all year 'round.  You should always wear a brimmed hat, long sleeves, neck protection, sun gloves, and sunglasses.  You should always bring raingear because afternoon rain showers are common.
